What is sustainability, really? The problem was that I understood sustainability only at face value, until I made it a priority to truly evaluate its worth. Fashion could be responsible if I chose to make it such.
The straightforward ideal of using every part of a raw material and stretching its potential is not something especially groundbreaking or new in any culture, yet somehow this simplicity seemed incredibly refreshing. I decided to adopt this “reverse” thinking to both jewellery design and my own home.
To achieve excellence in design, prototyping is necessary. But it is possible to prototype in a way that produces both good designs and less waste. The idea is to work on coming up with a small amount of very good designs versus many average ones.
